Windows XP Professional Edition
Windows XP Professional is intended for the business user. In addition to all of the features contained in Windows XP Home Edition, XP Professional adds capabilities to help in the work place.
Remote Access
Windows XP Professional Edition includes Remote Desktop technology. Based on the Terminal Server technology built into Windows NT, Remote Desktop allows user to access their office computer via the Internet or corporate LAN.
This gives user the ability to work from home or a client site without having to carry a laptop or manage multiple copies of documents or files. With Remote Desktop, users have access to all of their applications and data as if they were sitting in their office.
Improved Performance and Security
Microsoft claims a 30% decrease in the time it takes to start your computer. Using caching techniques Windows XP should be up and running in less than 30 seconds.
Programs also load faster with XP. After running a program several times, XP stores the information required to load the program so that it doesn't need to waste time searching for it in the future.
In addition, Microsoft says that XP does a better job at handling multiple tasks than its predecessors.
Windows XP Professional includes the NTFS file system. Available previously only on Windows NT Workstation and Windows 2000 Professional, the NTFS system allows users to encrypt files and folders and restrict access to files.
