HABITAT FOR HUMANITY WHEELING AREA, INC.

By using as much volunteer labor as possible, we are able to keep the cost of the houses very low. We simply could not exist without the help of people from the community working in partnership with us and people in need to improve the living conditions of those people. We need your help! You could make a huge difference in the life of a family, and in the community by lending a hand. There are as many ways to volunteer as there are people! If you don't think that volunteering at the jobsite is for you, you may want to volunteer to help the Family Selection process, or help with a project to raise money for Habitat. If you have a professional skill that is connected with either building (which could include legal, real estate, etc.) or social services (counseling, etc.) you could be a tremendous help to Habitat. Whatever your interest or area of expertise, you could use it to help a family in need!

Many people feel that something is missing in their life until they find the joy of helping others. When you volunteer for Habitat, you will not only be helping a family in need have a decent place to live, you will be enriching your own life. Many people have found a new purpose for their lives in volunteering for Habitat. One of those people is former President Jimmy Carter, who each year leads the "Jimmy Carter Work Project" which "blitz builds" many houses in one week. Mr. Carter's efforts have elevated Habitat for Humanity's recognition to the point of being one of the most popular and well respected charitable organizations in the world.

We'd love to have you support us financially; with a one time gift, or even a pledge for an ongoing regular commitment, but we'd also like to have you work with us!

Time is money: When you give yourself as a volunteer, you are helping us save money. Every job that we can get a volunteer to perform is one less that we have to pay for!
